Privacy Policy

Short version: Download Monitor by The Nexus Pivot is a local-only MV3 download lifecycle monitor for Chrome. It does not upload download records or use analytics, ads, telemetry, or remote code.

Chrome Web Store User Data Policy

Download Monitor by The Nexus Pivot complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data exposed through Chrome APIs is used only for the extension’s user-facing purpose: showing a local download lifecycle history. We do not sell that data, use it for advertising, or transfer it to a server.

What the extension records

The monitor stores a local, redacted summary of download lifecycle events. URL paths, query strings, referrers, and local directory paths are redacted by default. Full details are available only after explicit opt-in, and only for future records. The manifest prevents the extension from being enabled in Incognito, and the code also rejects any download marked as Incognito from records, progress samples, badge counts, and the live dashboard.

Records remain in Chrome’s local extension storage. There is no upload, account sync, analytics, ads, telemetry, or remote code. The extension’s Content Security Policy blocks outbound connections from its pages and service worker. An export is created only when you ask for one.

Permissions

downloads: observe the download lifecycle and the limited metadata needed to show local monitor records.
storage: save settings, redaction choices, and local monitor records.
alarms: sample in-progress download progress every 30 seconds locally.
unlimitedStorage: keep the user-selected bounded history available in local extension storage without normal storage-quota interruptions.

Retention and clearing logs

Retention is user-controlled within a 500-5,000 record range. When the selected limit is reached, older monitor records are removed as new records arrive. You can clear logs at any time from the extension; clearing logs removes the stored monitor history.

Release status

This policy applies to the Chrome Web Store release and future updates. Download Monitor by The Nexus Pivot will continue to follow the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and Limited Use requirements.
